Technological process For Rotary Kiln

A cement plant rotary kiln is a slightly inclined roller (typically inclined at 3% to 3.5%) that promotes material mixing and facilitates the movement of materials through the kiln. As materials progress through the kiln, they undergo high-temperature calcination, leading to clinker formation, which is essential in the cement manufacturing process. In a precalciner system, the rotary kiln serves as the final stage for carbonate decomposition and the formation of cement clinker minerals.

 

Key components of Rotary Kiln

Rotary Kiln consist of key components: Kiln body&Kiln tyre, Support devices; Hydraulic thrust roller, drive system and Sealing units.

Kiln body & Kiln Tyre

The kiln body, serves as the heated rotating component. It is constructed using high-quality steel plates, approximately 40mm thick, and is internally lined with a layer of refractory bricks, approximately 200mm thick.     

The kiln body is supported by three sets of kiln tyres, circular steel bands that encircle the kiln body and rotate along with it.

A backing plate (thickness 20~50mm) is welded to the kiln body. In order to adapt to the thermal expansion of the kiln body, there is an appropriate gap between the inner diameter of the kiln tyre and the outer diameter of the backing plate (usually 3~6mm). It can control thermal stress and Making full use of the rigidity of the kiln tyre to reinforce the kiln body is currently the most widely used installation method.

Support devices

The support device consists of supporting wheels and bearings, which bear the entire weight of the kiln and position the kiln body to ensure safe and stable operation.

Hydraulic thrust roller

 The hydraulic thrust roller consists of thrust rollers, thrust roller shaft, bearing seat, guide shaft, rolling bearing, oil cylinder, support, etc. It is also a travel switch and oil station of thrust roller. Its task is to control the axial movement of the rotary kiln body, so that the kiln tyre and supporting roller can wear evenly across the entire width, while ensuring the linearity of the center line of the kiln body, so that the large and small gears mesh well and reduce power onsumption. The hydraulic cylinder bears all the axial thrust of the kiln body and maintains slow reciprocating motion of the kiln body along the axial direction

Driver system

The rotary kiln is a slow-rotating equipment. The drive system is composed of motor, reducer, and large and small girth gears. The center line of the large girth gear set on the kiln body coincides with the center line of the kiln.

sealing units

Sealing at the kiln head and kiln tail is essential to maintain the stability of the thermal system in a rotary kiln. A well-balanced proportion of material quantity, fuel, and air is crucial for efficient clinker production. The kiln operates under negative pressure, leading to air intake at the connection points with fixed devices at the kiln head and kiln tail. This air intake can disrupt the balance, affecting the normal calcination of materials and decreasing clinker quality.
